Playing bar chords is a difficult thing for a lot of guitar players. The difficulty of playing them makes many players give up or fail to progress to where they want to go. I get that playing bar or barre chords is hard but sometimes just a little change in technique, hand, finger or arm placement can make a big difference in the ease of playing them.

If you are having trouble playing bar chords, experiment with them. Here are a few things you can do that may help you be more comfortable with them.

1.  Move your thumb up or down vertically behind the neck.

2.  Bring your elbow closer to the side of your body.

3.  Lower & Relax your wrist.

4.  Try playing the bar at the 5th fret.
